Response to: Nature of Hafsa and her Fear of Allah

The following is a response to SlaveOfAhlubait’s article: “Nature of Hafsa and her Fear of Allah.” The article was published on the 4th of June, 2012, and can be found here.

SlaveOfAhlubait quotes a narration:

Safia, wife of Holy Prophet asws, came to know that Hafsa has said about her that she is daughter of a jew. So when Holy Prophet asws met her, she was weeping. so He said: why are you weeping? She said: Hafsa said that I am daughter of a jew. so Prophet asws said: you are daughter of a Prophet, and your uncle was a Prophet as well. and you are wife of a Prophet, so have pride in this. Then He told Hafsa: o Hafsa! have fear of Allah.

The Sunni creed does not attribute infallibility to the wives or companions of the Prophet (salalahu alaihi wa salam), and domestic squabbles between wives over their husband is very natural. Hafsa’s words were inappropriate, but it does not lower from her status.

Moreover, we know why SoA has bothered to color the words: “Have fear of Allah.” Is this supposed to imply that she is a wretched person or a non-Muslim?

Has SoA not opened the Qur’an to find Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) say to His prophet: {“O’ prophet, fear Allah”} (Surat Al-Ahzab: 1)?
